In Southern California, Crabs must be four inches measured by the shortest distance through the body, from the edge of the shell to the edge of the shell at the widest part. The limit is 35 crabs per person and the crab season is open all year.
Spiny Lobsters must be three and one fourth inches measured in a straight line on the midline of the back from the edge of the eye socket to the rear edge of the body shell. The limit is 7 lobsters per person and the Lobster season is from the Saturday preceding the first Wednesday in October through the first Wednesday after the 15th of March.
